Practice makes markers perfect.

It’s no secret that I’m super uncomfortable working in makers. It’s one of the things I hated most about doing sketch cards. So before I even start working on my current contracts, I’m going to try and come up with a style I’m comfortable working with copics.

Here’s what the progress looked like:

1. is how I would typically do a sketch card, lay down basic colors with an attempt at shading, then line everything.

But I want to get away from lining my work, I’m much more comfortable with a brush than a maker, and I wanted the same feel as I get with my paintings.

2. is getting closer, I just need to adjust the colors.

3. is right where I want to be, it’s a good blend of colors, and shading mixed with colored pencils and acrylics.

4. I was saving this one till I knew I had the technique right.
