ACEO Painting Video

I had such a hard time filming; first I started out painting flat (which I hate because the light makes it impossible to see), then I kept getting out of frame, then I tried to tilt my board so I could see and the camera lost focus, my head kept getting in the way. >.<

So frustrating. I’ll probably shoot another when I paint the vampire (with is the last of the 3).

Just a few things I’ve been working on…

I started this bag about a month or so ago… the one I had been using was Pat’s, he brought it home from his old job. They always get freebies from their distributors, and he needed it back to carry his stuff with him on the train to work. I had been looking on ebags.com (at this one) for a replacement, but either they were too expensive, too small with the right amount of pockets, or too large with not enough pockets. My only alternative was to make it myself. I probably spent about 45.00 in materials (used a 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby) each time I needed to buy leather). This was definitely a learning experience, I have learned just how important it is to have the proper foot on your sewing machine in order to sew leather. Too many times I was so close to tossing my sewing machine into the street. @_@ and that was all because I was sewing with the wrong foot on my machine.

The finished project:

I’m currently working on 5 cards for the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, this is one, but will also be a full blown painting. Hopefully I get it done before my show at the end of the month… I have no new work since the craft show in June. @_@

Gift of Art for Bill

I can finally share this with everyone, I’ve been keeping it a secret for a while now because it was a gift for my friend Bill and I didn’t want it to accidentally get shared with him before he received the painting.

I’ve never been into Jackson Pollock but now I have a much greater appreciation for his work than before. I need to plan a day trip into the city to wander around the Art Inst. In fact there are a bunch of artists I’m seeing in a new light these days. I really enjoyed creating this, I think I needed it. I will be using what I learned from this adventure in future works. It really opened my eyes to new possibilities.

update:
wasn’t sure I was going to post this one but really you can’t see in the other video how much that black dimensional paint really makes this painting ‘pop’.
